The Messaging software for Apple’s Mac and Microsoft’s windows was introduced on Thursday by Facebook to make video chatting accessible to Facebook users via computer screens. Its the Facebook Messenger Desktop app that would allow the users to maintain social distancing while fighting with COVID-19.
The step is to use video conference apps such as Zoom, where the corporate offices, school districts, organizations and millions of people worldwide have been forced into work from their homes after lock-in to slow the spread of coronavirus.
The Microsoft Store & Mac App Store software makes friends with messages and launches Video calls, as in the smartphone and the web versions. The application is now available. It also has a dark mode, one of the latest innovations of the mobile overhaul that Facebook has been introducing.
Facebook Messenger Desktop App
The Messenger desktop application from Facebook joins the pool of video- software such as Zoom. However, the company has been in a lot of controversies these days regarding its user privacy and online protection.
Stan Chudnovsky, Facebook Messenger’s Vice President, said in a blog post: “Now, more than ever, people using technology to stay in touch with people they care about even though they are in physical isolation.
“Over the last month, we’ve seen more than 100% growth in people who are calling Messenger through their web client. Now with apps for macOS and Windows, the best of Messenger is coming to desktop, including unlimited and free group video calls.”
Facebook revealed last year that it had launched the mobile edition while announcing moves towards a private message service. You will access the Microsoft Store version of Facebook Messenger for Windows, and the Mac version is available from the Mac APP Store.
On Thursday, the social network reported that in the last month, more than 100% of users were hopping through their audio and video calls using their Messenger.
During the COVID 19 pandemic, video chatting applications are essential tools to establish communication with friends and families, as most of us are suffering social distancing. Finally, Facebook will make it a bit easier for users to talk video with their friends with the full version of its Messenger software.
