Lenovo is introducing a new 2-in-1 Chromebook duet which brings lightweight Chrome OS capabilities to small and medium users. The Duet Chromebook comes at a low cost of $279 (approximately Rs 21,000) and runs via a MediaTek processor. Many OEM Chromebooks mainly come at higher prices.

A price tag of $999 (approximately Rs 75,000) is on sale for the newly released Samsung Galaxy Chromebook. The Lenovo Duet Chromebook is also included in Google’s Chromebook shop and can be purchased from Best Buy in the US. Ice Blue and Iron Grey are available for the appliance.

The Chromebook Duet comes in 2 versions with a base size of 64 GB and a maximum of 128 GB. At $299 (about Rs 22,500), the latter is a little cheaper. The price of Lenovo’s sub-$300 is focused on the Chromebook insiders.

There is a low-powered laptop CPU, which is enough for Chrome OS because it requires very small data volumes. A MediaTek Helio P60 T processor is used to drive the Duet Chromebook, along with 4 GB RAM and storage space of up to 128 GB internally. There is no option to expand storage.

The 2-in-1 has a rotating keyboard and a trackpad. Although the keyboard is not backlight, which might mislead certain people, the price accordingly is justified. The 2-in-1 weight is around 450 grams without the keys, making them very compact. The Chromebook Duet sports a 10.1 “FHD+ IPS LC-Display is 1920×1200 pixels in resolution.

Since it is a 2-in-1, the Chromebook Duet also includes cameras — an 8-megapixel rear picture and a 2-megapixel front shot. Lenovo’s Duet Chromebook sports a 7180mAh battery with ten-hour battery life and a charging USB-C port. The Lenovo headphone jack is provided with the unit with USB-C to 3.5 mm.

As Chrome OS is in the heart of the Duet Chromebook, the applications can be downloaded and imported from Google Play. Chrome Search, Google Play Website, Google Download, Google Docs, Google Photos, Google Maps, Google Play Videos, Google Hold, Chrome Canvas, Google Play Music, Images, Calculator and Evernotes will be among the pre-installed applications on the Lenovo Duet Chromebook.
